Legal and Tax Seminar 2024

As every year, in the first week of December, we organized a legal and tax seminar. This year’s event took place at the Nobel Tower Advanced Technology Center.

Experts from Szwak and Company – CEO Arkadiusz Szwak and CFO Karolina Walczak – discussed updates in accounting (e.g., what documents must be provided to tax offices) and changes coming into effect in 2025, as well as business and tax opportunities affecting cooperation and conducting business in Singapore.

The software house SpiceSolutions, providing software for the digitization of processes, used daily by the Szwak&Spółka team and over 2,000 users from 200 companies, presented the possibilities of quick reporting and accelerating the operations of any business. A group of over 60 entrepreneurs had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with a case study illustrating the increase in team efficiency as a consequence of digitizing further processes – starting from the implementation of software for electronic document circulation, through HR and payroll documentation and applications, a program for organizing and reporting work, to quality control and advanced, yet accessible business intelligence reporting.

Event partners – lawyers from DSK Law Firm presented the planned changes in law and taxes for the upcoming year, the obligations and threats associated with cybersecurity for organizations, and the protection of personal data. Issues related to the Estonian CIT were also analyzed.

The seminar was also an opportunity to introduce the topic of soft skills by business psychologist Magdalena Kaczmarek from Talent City, who focused in her presentation on effective searching for and developing talents in teams.

The attendees of the event also had the opportunity to learn about the benefits of collaborating with journalists and building an expert image through media appearances.

We thank the participants and speakers for their participation in and preparation of the conference.

How to prevent unauthorized transactions in an enterprise

In today’s edition of Rzeczpospolita, we give recommendations on how to prevent unauthorized transactions in an enterprise, and how outsourcing accounting and financial services affects transaction security. “Entrusting the process to qualified specialists, using tools that digitize financial processing, who can develop security algorithms, minimize the risk of theft and mistakes and protect management from liability. Such skills are possessed by financial and accounting centers, which achieve this by, among other things, using the latest technologies combined with years of substantive experience of advisors. Companies offering outsourced services”.

PrimeGlobal Conference in Vienna

On March 14, 2024, at the PrimeGlobal technical conference in Vienna, at a forum of 140 accountants and advisors from nearly 40 countries from 5 continents, we had the honor of presenting the idea of digitalization of accounting processes, together with Dr. Emanuele Ferrari from the Italian consulting company Ferrari&Associati.

We presented the benefits of e-invoicing, how to implement and use digitalization tools, taking into account the sustainable development of soft skills and social capabilities of developed teams of specialists.

We combined the theory of the University of Rome and case studies of our companies to present nearly 250% higher efficiency of digitized accounting.

We are happy to have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with the practices of other accounting companies, which we will certainly use in our joint project digitizing processes, especially in accounting, which is combining Szwak&Spółka, SpiceSolutions.pl and Ferrari&Associati, SpiceSolutions.it.

PrimeGlobal Conference in Miami

On November 6-9, 2023, we took part in the PrimeGlobal World Conference in Miami. We exchanged experiences, refreshed and established relationships with nearly 300 accountants, tax advisors and auditors from nearly 40 countries on all continents.

Discussions, workshops and presentations focused mainly on the services we offer and how we should change them using artificial intelligence. For three days, we explored what kind of advisors we should be and that as a company we should focus on the so-called soft skills of our teams.

It is natural to gradually move away from typically technical, hard skills in favor of soft skills. Artificial intelligence will replace us in precise calculations and analyses, including regulations, but AI cannot replace humans in the relationships that are necessary in our trust-based profession. The knowledge of how to assess, appreciate and enable talent development in team management was inspiring.

We made sure that instead of competing with AI, we should work with it.

Using the acquired knowledge in an appropriate way, we planned to achieve our annual goals – even higher quality and better and slightly different, friendlier and more effective communication.

PrimeGlobal conference in Amsterdam

On November 19-22, 2022, a conference organized by PrimeGlobal – an international association of accounting and consulting companies, of which we are a member, was held in Amsterdam.

The company was represented by the Management Board – Arkadiusz Szwak and Karolina Walczak, we were among over 160 participants of the event from 27 countries.

We worked on maintaining the position of one of the leaders in digitization at GUT and the development of our International Accounting Center (IAC project), i.e. the implementation of our model and work tools in accounting firms from other countries, whose first participants are Prime Global members from Georgia and Spain.

For 4 days, 70% of the time was filled with talks, workshops, substantive and partner discussions, and 30% was filled with lectures on a wide range of knowledge (global information on economics, mental, a broader view of yourself and teams in terms of strengths and weaknesses, opportunities in digitization, in which as a company, in the opinion of other members from Europe, we dominate.)

Admiring Rembrandt’s works in the Rijksmuseum together with several hundred accounting firms, combined with visiting the Paralympic sports center, allows you to look at the capabilities of your teams in a different way and teaches you to adjust expectations to capabilities.

Relationships with 136 representatives of 60 companies from 27 countries increase our experience, thanks to which we implement our IAC (International Accounting Centre) project, in which, using the accounting service model and digitization tools (www.spicesolutions.pl), we combine accounting firms as principals and subcontractors from different parts of the world (we work for accounting firms from Spain and Italy, accounting firms from Georgia and Romania work for us).

One of the aforementioned discussions ended with an interesting twist – keep calm and do your job!
With this slogan, we return to everyday work, which thanks to such meetings we look at from a slightly different perspective and we are preparing to participate in this year’s PrimeGlobal conferences in Croatia and Singapore.

An entrepreneur asks about tax costs? Use our tips

No one, not even the tax authorities, has an exhaustive list of expenses considered as tax-deductible costs. Economic life is simply too rich. However, we have prepared an exemplary list with experts, using extensive case law in this area and interpretations of the head of the National Information Service. In it, we suggest what expenses can be included in tax costs, which can not, and which may be the subject of disputes. Accounting offices should have such a cheat sheet at hand, because it will allow you to quickly solve customer doubts.
